In ihrer Rauminstallation »Landschaft mit Sturm« im Berliner Projektraum der Galerie Parrotta bezieht sich Heike Gallmeier auf eines der bedeutendsten und zugleich verwegensten Gemälde des venezianischen Renaissancemalers Giorgione »La Tempesta«. Sie bedient sich damit, wie schon zuvor in ihrer installativen, fotografischen und filmischen Arbeit, eines dezidierten Meisterwerks der Kunstgeschichte. Ihre Vor-Bilder sind Teil unseres kollektiven Bildgedächtnisses und die Referenz der Installation zumeist eindeutig. Und dies selbst dann noch, wenn Heike Gallmeier die Motive unter Verwendung von Alltagsmaterialien wie bemalter Pappe, Folie und Holz in einer ganz eigenen schroffen Materialität und deutlich reduzierten Formensprache rekonstruiert. Wie in Guckkästen mit mehreren hintereinander angeordneten Kulissenrähmchen, die den Eindruck von Raumtiefe verstärken, so staffeln sich in der Rauminstallation »Landschaft mit Sturm« die kulissenhaften malerischen Elemente zu einer spezifisch angelegten Renaissancelandschaft. Geräumt vom Personal ihrer Vorlage, öffnet Heike Gallmeier mit ihrer Rekonstruktion eines Gemäldes als Bühne die Zwischenräume einer auf Flächigkeit angelegten Komposition. Die Kulissenhaftigkeit der Installation findet ihre Entsprechung im Bühnencharakter des Berliner Projektraums mit seiner aufsteigenden Holzrampe als schiefer Bodenebene. Für den Betrachter des Galerieschaufensters fügt sich die Installation zum Bild. Für diejenigen, die den Raum betreten, zerfällt das Bild in seine einzelnen Elemente und die dabei offen gelegte Konstruktion macht »Landschaft mit Sturm« zur Kippfigur zwischen Installation und Bild.
Heike Gallmeier (*1972) lebt und arbeitet in Berlin. Zuletzt zeigte sie eine raumgreifende Installation im Autocenter Berlin und war bei Ausstellungen wie »Art and Identity« im Art Museum Guangzhou, China und »History will repeat itself« des HMKV Dortmund und KW Institute for Contemporary Art Berlin vertreten.

Presented in the Berlin Project Space of Parrotta Contemporary Art, the room installation by the artist Heike Gallmeier refers to one of the most well-known and significant paintings of the Italian Renaissance by painter Giorgione: »La Tempesta« (»The Storm«). Like many other masterworks she has been choosing as subjects for her work, even this one represents a culturally assimilated archetype, which, like others, can be seen as a referring point within the western collective visual memory and is therefore easily recognizable by the public.
The use of daily roughly worked materials like paperboard, plastic or wood, reconducts to simplified and again easily identifiable linguistic forms. Like in raree shows the installation consists of subsequently ordered coulisse frames, which reinforce the perception of spacial depth. This way the elements of the installation »Landscape with storm« gradually combine to recreate a specific Renaissance's landscape. The coulisse character of the composition finds its counterpart in the particular aspect of the exhibition's space, recalling a theatre stage with its ascending floor. To the viewer watching from the outside into the gallery room the installation appears like a flat picture. To those who enter the room a more complex landscape discloses: single elements become slowly visible, the picture demounts as the installation's hidden skeleton is unveiled to the public view. This way »Landscape with storm« becomes a transition point between installation and picture, between a planar and a three-dimensional perception.
Heike Gallmeier (1972) lives and works in Berlin. Lately she has presented a room installation in the Autocenter Berlin and has participated in »Art and Identity« in the Art Museum Guangzhou (China) and »History will repeat itself« in the HMKV, Dortmund and KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin.
